Is the Galaxy A54 Good? Cameras And Designs Stand Out

Galaxy A54: One of the main launches of Samsung in 2023 was undoubtedly the Galaxy S23, the new cell phone top of a line brand.

In parallel with it, the South Korean manufacturer has also been expanding its other lines, with the Galaxy A family gaining new members.

We will answer the question: is the Galaxy A54 any good? Is the new line intermediary a real competitor in this medium? And is it an evolution over its predecessor? Check it out below.

Design And Connectivity

Like the Galaxy A14, the look of the Galaxy A54 draws attention because it is very similar to the base version of the S23 but with a glass finish on its back, which is new for the A-line. Whether a beautiful, discreet smartphone that visually resembles a premium cell phone rather than an intermediate one. It can be purchased in black, lime green, white and violet. Due to the glass back, lighter colors “behave” differently when reflecting light.

On its right side, we have the power button next to the volume controls; on its left side, we have nothing since the drawer for the chip is at the top of the device. It is a hybrid slot where two chips can be placed, each occupying one side of the drawer, or you can use one side with a chip and the other with a memory card.

And in its lower part are the USB-C port, the speaker and the microphone. It is important to mention that it does not have a P2 input for headphones. The Galaxy A54 comes with the theandroid13 as an operating system with 4 years of update, supporting WiFi, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, NFC, 5G and IP67 certification, which protects the device against dust and water when immersed in up to 1 meter of fresh water.

Screen And Audio

Its screen is one of the strongest points of its configuration. It is a Super AMOLED, Full HD + resolution with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. It has great fluidity and sharpness, performing well both in games and when playing videos. Although very good, it is practically the same screen as the Galaxy A53, with the only real change being the size, where the A54 is 0.1 inches less, having 6.4 inches.

This size allows for a screen with good usability without “missing” any space. However, it has relatively large edges, which can be a negative point for more demanding users. But still, the space is well used overall, with the front camera not being present in the form of a drop.

As for its audio, it is stereo audio without any technology or unique resources. And despite having quality in its audio, it focuses a lot on medium frequencies, sinning a little in the definition of bass sounds, mainly when increasing the volume.

Performance And Battery

Performance is another highlight of the device, having the Exynos 1380 as a chip set. Although it is a negative point for many because it is not a Snapdragon, this present in the Galaxy A54 is far from bad. The performance of the Exynos 1380 matches that of the Snapdragon 778G, although slightly superior. That is, it is one of the best processors of this level, being “on edge” between an intermediate processor and a top-of-the-line.

Another point contributing to its good performance is that it has 8 GB of RAM, and the Mali-68 MP5 GPU, which is a slight evolution of the GPU present in the A53. On Samsung’s website, it is available in two versions, one with 128 GB of internal memory and the other with 256. Both are good choices, remembering that it was mentioned at the beginning of the text that it has a memory card drawer, so if you want to pay less and not run out of storage, you can go with the 128GB without problems.

Exynos chip sets have a “reputation” for getting very hot, which is one of the reasons why most users prefer Qualcomm’s chip set. In this case, the A54 only presents this problem in case of long usage times, with heavy applications, such as games that require a lot of hardware, or with several apps open simultaneously. In any case, he doesn’t usually choke, even in these situations.

Its battery is within the current standard of 5,000 mAh, enough to last at least a full day of more routine uses. As for its charging, it supports 25W, but the charger that comes in its box has only 15W.

Cameras

One more positive point for the A54 the set of cameras is complete and with good results. In bright places with lots of light, image reproduction has a lot of fidelity and sharpness, too, even hitting head-on with some higher-level cell phones. Its reproduction of more vivid and saturated colors could be better, but also nothing that leaves much to be desired.

The A54 also has the Nightography feature in the S-line cell phones; although it does not achieve the same results due to the not-so-powerful hardware, it leaves nothing to be desired. The 50 MP main camera and the 32 MP front camera can record 4K videos, with the main camera reaching 60 frames per second with super stabilization and the front camera only 30 fps.

Compared to the cameras on the A53, those on the A54 are numerically inferior. The main one of the A53 has 64 MP and 4 sensors instead of just 3. However, the number of megapixels sometimes dictates the quality of a camera but the hardware that accompanies it. And considering that the A54’s configurations are superior to its predecessor, its camera set achieves better results too.
